VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two people died and another was injured after three vehicles were involved in a crash early Friday morning in Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach police said there was a call around 6 a.m. for someone pinned inside a vehicle at the intersection of Independence and Pembroke boulevards.
Police said responding officers found three vehicles involved and three people injure. One of those people was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died at an area hospital.
The third person injured in the crash was transported to a hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
Traffic on Independence Boulevard is expected to be impacted for several hours. Northbound lanes on Independence Boulevard are closed from Independence Circle to Haygood Road.
Southbound lanes on Independence are closed from Pembroke Boulevard to Witchduck Road.
