2 men face federal charges in connection to threats at local high school
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Two men have been charged in connection to threats made toward Tabb High School in York County earlier this year.
Federal indictments filed on May 15 show Robert Michael Scott and Daryl Curtis Byerly are charged with threat to injure in interstate communication.
The charges stem from threatening calls the high school received in early March, which prompted the school to go on lockdown and cancel after-school activities.
The York County School Division said the calls were related to an incident that was captured on video and spread on social media.
Federal prosecutors said in the indictments Byerly and Scott left profanity-laced voicemails in early March.
Byerly is accused of calling from Las Vegas, Nevada, and telling someone at the school he was going to come down there and kill them.
A jury trial for Byerly is scheduled for July 31.
